Combat Encounters
The server has sectors around the planetary system that spawn aggressive encounters of one of the factions.
While in space, outside of a planet's influence, you can use the points of interest UI on the map to see what encounters are available. Ie: [1] PirateRaid [123m] -
[1] indicates the level of the encounter
[123m] is how long for it to despawn

Enhanced Wrecks
Wrecks on the server are not just ships that you can get elements. They have loot inside them.
Each wreck ship has a loot table that is random distributed every time a wreck is spawned.
Check the containers for loot when salvaging.
